Video: Lisbon to Lagos!

Nach fast 5 Wochen in Lissabon, heisst es jetzt: Leinen los!

Und wir haben Crew dabei, Miia und ihr Mann Mika segeln mit uns bis Lagos an der Algarve.

Wir verlassen den Tejo und biegen nach Süden ab. Die Küste Portugals hinunter findet man nur wenige Häfen, wir nutzen das Ankerfeld vor dem Yachthafen von Sines für eine kurze Pause. Sines ist der Geburtsort des Entdeckers Vasco Da Gama, ein hübsches Städtchen mit malerischer Altstadt. Wie so viele Orte in Portugal zeigt auch Sines überall verlassene Häuser und Spuren des Verfalls, sobald man von den touristischen Wegen abweicht. Leider ist das Ankern hier sehr rollig, weil Hafen und Ankerfeld von Nord- bis Südwest offen sind. Die stetig einlaufende Atlantikwelle und der leicht drehende Wind sorgen für viel Bewegung im Schiff. Wir merken uns, was wir beim Nachbarn beobachten, der bringt einfach einen Heckanker aus und liegt deutlich besser.

Weiter geht es zum Cobo De Sao Vincente, entspanntes Genakersegeln bis kurz vor das Kap. Bei stetig zunehmendem Wind nehmen wir das Vorwindsegel weg und laufen in die Praha De Belixe ein, einer traumhaften Bucht mit türkisem Wasser und eingerahmt von Grotten und Höhlen, die wir mit dem Dingi erkunden.

Hier treffen wir auch Michael Wnuk, der mit seiner Marlin einen Zwischenstopp an der Algarve macht, bevor er zum Sprung auf die Kanaren ansetzt. Leider reicht es nur für einen kurzen Plausch von unserem Dingi in die Plicht der Marlin, aber wir haben ja mit Serge und seiner Mitseglerin Elysa schon Abwechslung in der Bucht.
Nach einer Nacht vor Anker und einer Stippvisite in der malerisch gelegenen Beachbar setzen wir Segel, diesmal nur die Genua. Auch die müssen wir nach dem Verlassen der Bucht um die Hälfte wegrollen, Böen bis 38 Knoten lassen uns auch so mit 9 Knoten dahinrauschen. Und es ist ja nicht weit bis zu unserem Zielhafen für diese Etappe: den Kanal in die Marina von Lagos erreichen wir schon nach drei Stunden.

Nach einer schönen Segelwoche verlassen uns Miia und Mika wieder, wir warten auf Claudia und Özgür, die nächsten Gäste, die uns weiter in Richtung Gibraltar begleiten werden.

We stayed quite long in Lisbon–almost 5 weeks.
So departure was easy, pushed a little bit by new crew, Miia and Mika, friends from Finland, join our trip to Lagos.

We leave the Tejo and turn south.
The Portuguese coast lacks marinas, so we use the anchor field in front of the marina of Sines for a break.
Sines is the birthplace of the discoverer Vasco Da Gama. Sines is pretty with a picturesque old town. Like so many places in Portugal Sines also shows abandoned houses and one can find signs of decay, as soon as you leave the tourist trails. Unfortunately, the anchorage is very rolly because marina entrance is open from south- to north east. The constantly incoming Atlantic waves and the slightly rotating winds provide a lot of motion to the boats. Next time we remember what we observe at the neighbors, who brought out a stern anchor and slept significantly better.

Continuing to Cabo De Sao Vincente we enjoy a relaxed genaker sail until shortly before the cape. In increasing winds we take the downwind sail away and turn into the Praha De Belixe, a beautiful bay with turquoise waters and surrounded by caves and caverns, which we explore with the dinghy.

We meet Michael Wnuk and his Marlin on a stopover, before the start their way to the Canary Islands. Unfortunately, there is only enough time for a short chat from our dinghy to the cockpit of Marlin. But with Serge and his co skipper Elysa we had some frinds in the bay and enjoyed one of Serge’s famous „Planet Migo Party’s“.
After another night at anchor and a flying visit to the picturesque beach bar we set sail again. This time we go with the genoa only, which we also reef in after leaving the bay. Gusts up to 38 knots push us towards Lagos with nice 9 knots. It’s not far to our destination marina for this stage: after three short hours we reach the channel to the marina of Lagos.

After a beautiful sailing week, Miia and Mika left again and VAST awaits Claudia and Özgür as next guests, who will accompany us on towards Gibraltar.
