Lagos ist ein kleiner Ort, sehr touristisch, mit sehr bewegter Geschichte, inklusive total Zerstörung. Hier wurde der Schiffstyp „Karavelle“ entwickelt und von hier aus starteten Afrikaexpeditionen.
Heute ist Lagos eher eine Britischen Enklave in Portugal. So ähnlich kommt es eine jedenfalls vor, wenn man im Hafen entlang des gastronomischen Angebots spaziert: auf der einen Seite reiht sich ein Pub an den nächsten, auf der anderen wehen hauptsächlich Englische Flaggen an den Hecks der Boote.
Wo waren wir? Ach ja, Lagos. Lagos hat einen netten, touristisch erschlossenen Ortskern, umgeben von einer alten Stadtmauer. Die Küstenlinie ist eine Steilküste, ausgehöhlt und durchlöchert von Hölen und unterbrochen von kleinen Sandstränden. Insgesamt ein tolles Erlebnis, wir sind mit dem Dinghi auf Erkundungstour gegangen – zusammen mit ungefähr hundert professionellen Touristenbooten. Aber das war zu erwarten. Schön und eindrucksvoll ist es jedenfalls.

Eher etwas früher hingehen, es wird voll!
Özgür kommt in Lagos an Bord und begleitet uns über Alvor nach Portimao – inklusive Fotoshooting am Ankerplatz! Wir hatten jedenfalls eine super Zeit.
Abgelöst wird Özgür in Portimao von Claudia, leider war ihr nur ein kurzer Törn bis Albufeira vergönnt. Aber wir haben eine schöne Zeit gehabt!
Auf dem weiteren Weg Richtung Gibraltar segeln wir zu zweit weiter nach Faro, wo wir hinter der Halbinsel Ilha da Culatra vor Anker liegen, Serge und Elysa mit PLANET MIGO wieder treffen und ein sehr entspanntes, ruhiges Portugal erleben.

Lagos–a small town, very touristy, very turbulent history, including total destruction. Here the type of ship „caravel“ was developed and expeditions to Africa started.
Today Lagos seems to be more like a British enclave in Portugal. So it occurs one anyway when you go for a walk in the port: on one side it’s lined by pubs, on the other English flags decorate the stern of the boats.
Lagos has a nice, touristy center, surrounded by an old city wall. The coastline is a steep coast, hollowed out and riddled with caves and interrupted by small sandy beaches. Overall a great experience, which we enjoyed by dinghy–along with about a hundred professional tourist boats. But that was to be expected. Beautiful and impressive it is, anyway.

Be early, it will be crowded!
Özgür comes in Lagos on board and accompanied us over Alvor to Portimao – including photo shoot at the anchorage! We certainly had a great time.
In Portico Özgür was replaced by Claudia, unfortunately for her we could just do one short hop to Albufeira together. But we’ve had a good time!
On the way towards Gibraltar we sailed on to Faro, where we set the hook behind beautiful peninsula Ilha da Culatra. We reunited with Serge and Elysa with PLANET MIGO and had a very relaxed and quiet Portugal experience.
