Vast Forward’s “Developer Day”

Ahoi aus der Crew Vast: Auf diesem Katamaran wird auch fernab von Ankerkette, Großsegel und Klampen gearbeitet – und zwar täglich, remote und mit 6 festen Projektmanagerinnen und mehr als 30 Entwicklern und Kreativen in der digitalen Medienproduktion. Wie es sich an Bord der Crew Vast arbeitet, ohne täglich im Cockpit aufs offene Meer zu schauen, teile ich ab jetzt hier regelmäßig. Denn „Vast Floating“ geht im Team von Vast Forward auch ohne Wasser unterm Bug. Es steht für die Freiheit, den eigenen Arbeitsort komplett selbst zu bestimmen: Ich persönlich habe eine Schwäche für festen Boden unter den Füßen. Im „Home“- oder von „wo-aus-auch-immer-Office“.

Zurück aus der Hauptstadt kommt hier der erste Share unserer Projektmanagerin und PR- & Kommunikations-Frau Yvonne zur Premiere des Developer´s Day made by Vast Forward.

Was für ein Tag! Was für ein Auftakt! Wie es sich für einen gelungenen Event-Piloten gehört, starten wir von Berlin Marzahn aus ab auf den Mond – think big im dicken B an der Spree. Wir, das sind Vast Forwards Projektmanagement-Team und 7 freie Programmierer aus unserem Netzwerk an Entwicklern und Kreativen, mit denen wir digitale Werbekampagnen, Websites, Apps und Newsletter für unsere Kunden produzieren.

Gebanntes Staunen über das ambitionierte Vorhaben der PT Scienctists: 2021 mit eigenem Raumfahrzeug und Moon Rover zum Erdtrabanten. Wall-E´s Sendesignale sollen dann mit nur 3 Sekunden Verzögerung wieder bei uns ankommen.

Klar, schließlich sind wir vor Ort bei den #spaceenablers. Schnelligkeit kennen wir auch, als B2B Customer Enablers. Was für mich das größte Learning war? Die gemeinsame Vision ist das, was ein 70-köpfiges Team aus 16 Nationen mit nur einem Bruchteil der finanziellen Ausstattung eines Musk, Bezos & Co gemeinsam daran arbeiten lässt, einen noch vor 10 Jahren aus heutiger Sicht für „unmöglich“ gehaltenen Traum zu verwirklichen. Wie sie das ganz praktisch anstellen? Wir hören zum Beispiel #RocketAsaService – bei mir klingelte es da ganz irdisch, „software as a service“ kenn ich als WomenInTech nämlich auch! Aha! Und mehr Parallelen schleichen sich in meine iNotes: ein wahr gewordener Lebenstraum & eine gemeinsame Mission? Maren und Matthias leben und arbeiten auf ihrem Boot und ich bin Teil eines leidenschaftlichen Teams remote arbeitender WomenInTech. Hach! Schöner hätte es nicht starten können.

Entsprechend gethrilled ging’s im Oldtimer Bus nun aber wirklich ab an die Spree: Vom Startup neben dem Plattenbau zum Big Player in der Luxuskarosserie: Porsche-Frau (<Name>) über working out loud und spannende Einblicke in die Arbeit des Porsche SpinLabs, weniger ein Ideen-Inkubator als vielmehr eine agile hauseigene Taskforce. „Blockchain“ und „China“ hören wir. Und „crazy 8“ – 8 Bilder zum gleichen Thema in nur 2 Minuten zur gemeinsamen Ideenfindung. Nochmal aha! Hier wird Arbeit also auch neu gedacht.

Vom Brain Gain an der Spree zum Lunch Break auf dem Wasser. Hmhhh, Spargel!

Was kann jetzt noch kommen? Wir haben ein Date mit Watson! Wer 8.000 Bücher in einer Minute liest, trägt das Prädikat „schlau“ nicht von ungefähr: Über IBM´s Künstliche Intelligenz (engl.: AI) „Watson“ gibt es Input aus erster Hand von (<Name>). Und dann? Gemeinsam unterwegs in Sachen Arbeit direkt am Berliner KuDamm, das kann nur eines heißen: (Work-) Shopping! Die Inspiration hat gefruchtet: Wir teilen Ideen zur Zukunft unserer gemeinsamen digitalen Arbeit und Workshop-Leiter Lars & Zejlo („J-Lo“) von Metaplan moderieren konstruktiv mit.

9 wertvolle Stunden und (k)ein bisschen müde: So viel Inspiration und wertvoller Input, wir wollen definitiv mehr davon! Und zum Abschluss beim Dinner im schicken Reed´s? Nochmal Spargel für mich bitte, der passt so gut zum leckeren Weißwein, davon auch gern einen mehr – Cheers!

What a day! What a prelude! As befits a successful event pilot, we start from Berlin Marzahn on the moon – think big in thick B on the Spree. We, the Vast Forwards project management team, and 7 freelance programmers from our network of developers and creatives, use them to produce digital advertising campaigns, websites, apps, and newsletters for our clients.

Sure, finally we are on site at the #spaceenablers. We also know speed as B2B Customer Enablers. What was the biggest learning for me? The shared vision is what makes a 70-member team of 16 nations, working with just a fraction of the financial resources of a Musk, Bezos & Co, work together to make a dream impossible 10 years ago from today’s perspective. How do you do that? For example, we hear #RocketAsaService – it sounded quite earthly to me, as „software as a service“ I know as WomenInTech! Aha! And more parallels sneak into my iNotes: a dream come true & a common mission? Maren and Matthias live and work on their boat and I am part of a passionate team of remote working WomenInTech. Hach! It could not have been better.

What else can come now? We have a date with Watson! If you read 8,000 books in a minute, the term „smart“ is no accident: About IBM’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) „Watson“ there is first-hand input from (<name>). And then? Working together on the job at the Berlin KuDamm, that can only mean one thing: (work) shopping! The inspiration has been fruitful: we share ideas about the future of our shared digital work, and workshop leaders Lars & Zejlo („J-Lo“) of Metaplan provide a constructive moderating.
