In unserem 13.

Now English

In our 13th video log we leave the Spanish coast after VAST has been waiting for us for almost a month in Alicante.

Alicante was super nice. The marina is huge and Alicante has a lot to offer: a nice castle as hiking destination, provisioning in walking distance, great beaches, restaurants and bars and some touri-bustle right on the shore if you need distraction.

The Volvo Ocean Race has started here for several years, so there is a Volvo Ocean Race Museum open all year round and two of those 60 feet race yachts to check out. Every starting year, there is also the race village and some brimborhood–we’ve checked that out in 2014, back then we were here by plane, of course 🙂

After our job-and-family-trip we had to get VAST prepared for the visit of Nina and Arndt and the crossing to the Balearic Islands. There is always something to clean on board, in addition, having guests always means to clean up: we like to use the aft cabins as storage rooms, as long as we are alone. So it’s necessary to find some space for longboards, outboard batteries and cockpit cushions. Oh well.

In any case, we quickly loaded recipes for new ‚mooring drinks‘ (no more G&Ts, switch to Tom Collins :)), bunked water and diesel and then left for our three day trip. The wind was okay, quite from behind and moderate, so we had relaxing nights. The wind left us just before reaching Formentera–but that was quickly forgotten, somehow overwritten by the turquoise waters and the pretty anchorage. One word: awesome! And this early in the year it was also quite empty, relatively anyway. And there was some kind of „anchorage movies“, though not youth-free – but that’s a story for an evening at some bar. Or living room table. Or so.

Nina & Arndt, it was great, thanks for having you! You accompanied us to further on to Ibiza, Santa Eularia–but time ran up so fast!

We were lucky to meet Christine and Franziska (including a dinghy tour and a tour through the hinterland), before we continued (motor)sailing on to Mallorca.

But enough of the words, now have fun with the video!
