Video: Sailing Andalusia Sep-Nov 2015!
Zu Beginn des 8. Jahrhunderts waren auf der Iberischen Halbinsel die Mauren am Ruder. Von ihnen stammt auch die Bezeichnung Al-Andalus (الأندلس). Daraus ging der Name Andalusien, spanisch Andalucía, hervor. Na klar, die „weißen Dörfer“, der Baustil und viele Befestigungsanlagen haben ihre Wurzeln ebenfalls in dieser langen Geschichte.
Das sagenumwobene Al Andalus also, die mittelalterliche muslimische Provinz in Europa hat uns sehr gefallen. Zwischen November 2015 und Mai 2016 segelten wir mit Winterpause in Gibraltar/La Linea von Cadiz aus Richtung Nordosten bis Alicante.
Neben den Küstenorten haben wir auch Sevilla, Grenada und die Alhambra, Frigiliana (aka „Weißes Dorf“) und Ronda besucht.
Begeistert haben uns die abwechslungsreiche Landschaft und die geschichtsträchtige Architektur. Eigentlich haben wir ja den ganzen Winter schon hier verbracht, darum wird es noch weitere Beiträge von uns dazu geben, aber hier erste Impressionen.
Unser ersten Highlights: Cadiz und Sevilla 🙂

In the beginning of the 8. century the Iberian peninsula was–moorish. They called this land al-andalus (الأندلس) which became andalusia, spanish andalucía.
Well, also the „white villages“, the architectural style and many fortifications have their roots in this long history.
So, the legendary al andalus, this medieval muslim province in europe was a pleasure to explore. Including our winter break we sailed the coast between November 2015 and May 2016, all the way from Cádiz to Gibraltar / La Linea and then, 2016, headed direction north-east to Alicante.
Beside the coats line we’ve also explored Seville, Grenada and the Alhambra, Frigiliana (aka „white village“) and visited Ronda.
We loved driving through the mountains and the varied landscape and of course the rich history you find in style and architecture.
We’ve spent all winter here and we need some more posts to show and describe what happened in those months.
But let’s get first impressionen now: Our first highlights: Cádiz and Seville 🙂
